Trusting Your Leader
We have often heard that it is highly important for a leader to develop trust for him among his employees because the trust of team members make a member the leader of their group. So my question is: how can a leader create a climate of trust and facilitate relationships among his team members? What can he do to demonstrate that he is trustworthy? What can he do to show that he trust others?
What’s my leadership style?
Please complete the self-assessment on What’s my leadership style? You will find it in the Chapter 9 folder in the Content section. This one is a little tricky to score so I have attached another file that is a sample of how to score the assessment. Please refer to it if you get confused on the scoring. It is important that you score this properly to determine your leadership style. Upon completion of the assessment use this discussion thread to discuss your leadership style, what surprised you about your style, what you might do to improve your task-centered or people-centered skills and anything else you would like to comment on.

Situational Leadership
Hersey & Blanchard developed a situational leadership model described as adjusting your leadership style to specific situations to reflect employee needs. This model focuses attention on the readiness of the employee. After reading about this model, give some examples of how you have supervised (or have been supervised) through each one of the four stages of telling, selling, participating and delegating. Discuss other things related to this model such as: how does this relate to other topics we have discussed such as motivation, communication, etc.., how does this compare to other leadership behaviors and styles?

RE: What’s my leadership style?
I have received an 8 on people-centered and 9 on task-centered. I think these are the appropriate results because I feel myself to be more concerned for tasks than for people. Moreover my job does not allow me to be more concerned for people and I also believe that if you are people-centered, you cannot make work done from them. However I believe there should be a balance between the both i.e. we shall make our tasks done on time but not at the cost of some serious emotions of the employees because if we cooperate with them, they too will cooperate with us.
RE: Situational Leadership
When I first joined my current job, I knew nothing about the working environment and process. Thus my supervisor came in, handed me a file and told me to work on that. This was the telling part of the model we are learning. Since I was new to the company, I was a bit afraid so I asked him which parts to work upon and how its done over there. He then sat with me and explained me a few things. He also told me to take help of one other employee in case I need any. This was the selling part of the model. While working on that file, I got stucked in some financial figures and thus I went to see him and asked for his help. He worked on those figures with me demonstrating the participative leadership style. Finally when the file was completed, he delegated me by giving another file and this time I was myself confident enough to complete that on time without much help needed. I think that motivation and proper communication is needed in all these stages because without these, employees cannot complete the work in desired manner until and unless they have a prior experience of doing the same
